Frankfurt Seminar on Random Discrete Structures
September 9-11, 2004
Frankfurt am Main, Germany
Welcome to the homepage of the Frankfurt Seminar on Random Discrete Structures,
which will be held from September 9-11, 2004, at the Mathematical Department
of the
J.W. Goethe University in Frankfurt a.M.
The Seminar is part and highlight of a workshop closing a German-Russian Research Cooperation on
Branching processes in Random Environment. Sponsors are the DFG, the Russian Foundation of Basic Research and the Mathematics Department of Frankfurt University.

By organizing this seminar the Mathematical Department acknowledges the
increasing influence of discrete structures, methods and algorithms in mathematics,
particularly in connection with probability. Special emphasis is given to:
- probabilistic analysis of algorithms
- combinatorial stochastic processes
- random trees
- branching processes and random walks in random environment
Participants (from outside Frankfurt)
Plenary lectures to a general mathematical audience will be given by Luc Devroye and
Steven N. Evans.
The talks are held in the "Hilbertraum" (nr. 302), on the 3rd
floor of Robert-Mayer-Straße 8.

In the days before the seminar there will be further talks within the Workshop.
